North Berwick Surf Life Saving Club

We are currently in the process of registering the club, applying for funding (for equipment and training) as well as recruiting volunteers who might be willing to help us run the club.

We intent to run our first Beach Lifeguard course for adults during summer 2024.

We need volunteers who are able to commit time to train as Beach Lifeguards and then train further as trainers and assessors to deliver courses to our members.

We also need volunteers who are happy to stay dry and help organise members, sessions as well as the club finances.

If you think you can help, please contact us through the links on the contact page.

Who?

Founded by North Berwick local Matt Gibbons and seeking local volunteers to help run all aspects.

WhAT?

A Voluntary Surf Life Saving Club open to all, self sufficiently delivering SLSGB accredited courses to members, whilst educating the wider community, regular water users and occasional beach users alike.

WhY?

To educate the community and increase our collective safety, skills and knowledge.

There has been a rise in people enjoying watersports around the coast, unfortunately this has also led to a rise in people getting into difficulty, as they are inexperienced, misjudge the conditions or don't understand the dangers, or how to mitigate them.

Education can prevent the need for RNLI and Coastguard call outs, and ultimately save lives.

WHEN?

Established in 2021 we are slowly gathering funding, equipment, support and knowledge and hope to begin welcoming members to train with us soon.

We became a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) in January 2024. (SC053046).

Outreach to the wider community and partnership with other clubs and organisations, to spread our reach will follow.

WHERE?

North Berwick, we'll hopefully be based out of the Harbour, running sessions on North Berwick's East Beach.
